There a few things that every Miamian has to do before leaving the city.
The first is head to South Beach. The second is to hit up Club Space.
While Addam and I have become a regular pair of beach bums, this weekend we made our first trip to Space to celebrate our good friend’s birthday. John goes every year, and this year he was lucky enough to land VIP seating in Miami’s hottest night/day club.
For the two people who haven’t heard of it (my mother surely being one of them) — Space is insane. Most people don’t even show until past midnight, and it’s practically unheard of to leave until noon the next day. Addam had to work the following Sunday, but even though we couldn’t go full-force, we did manage to get a little wild.
We got to the club around midnight and were escorted past a gigantic line, straight to our table. A tiny girl in an even tinier outfit promptly brought out two bottles of champagne and some strawberries — complete with sparklers — to set off the celebration.
I don’t think there was an eye in the house that was not on us, and I couldn’t help but wonder what everyone was thinking. I felt like people assumed that I was some sort of quasi-famous celebrity. An oil heir or reality show contestant. Regardless of who or what they thought I was, I definitely felt like a very important person.

After popping the bubbly, Tati gave Addam and me a tour of the area. There was an upstairs, a downstairs and a patio — each with a DJ playing his own special blend of house music. We spent the majority of our time in our little VIP area and on the patio — enjoying drinks and dancing like our sanity depended on it.
As much fun as we have together, Addam and I are usually so busy that we don’t get much of an opportunity to let loose and enjoy each other on the weekends. It was great to be able to dance and enjoy the time with him.

As much as we love a good party and a strong show, Addam and I don’t hit up the clubs nearly as much as living in Miami warrants, so it was fun to get out of the house and let our hair down. We hated to leave but managed to crawl out around 3 a.m., hop on our bikes and head home.
We’ll be saying sayonara to the city in a few short weeks, so it was nice to enjoy some of what Miami has to offer. Luckily, Tatiana has a birthday coming up, so we may be making another trip to Space before we head out.
